About Us

Magnetic Island Community Care (MICC) has been caring for our aging community on Magnetic Island since 1997.

A community meeting of visionary Islanders saw the first aged care day service established on 31 October 1997. Operating from a range of community venues, MI Community Care, as it was then called, expanded to become a day respite centre and office with a small number of staff and volunteers.

In 2007, we received a Queensland Government grant that enabled the purchase of the current office in Horseshoe Bay and the provision of more in-home care services and activities under Federal Government funding.

Since 1997, the organisation has transformed from a “cottage industry” into a mature organisation run on modern business principles and in accordance with the new Federal Government Aged Care requirements.

Our organisation is managed by a Registered Nurse with 19 years of experience in Advanced Gerontology, and we have nursing staff on our team to maximise care for our clients.

Our Board of Directors, our Governing Body, is a diverse, skills-based board with experience in Aged Care and promotes a culture of attracting people with the required skills and a mindset for improvement.

We provide trusted, quality care for our community and support people to live independently and safely at home.

Partnering for Independence
